Environmentally Friendly Printing
Greycot Press are very environmentally friendly with no compromise on quality. We take our commitment to the environment very seriously which is one of the reasons we invested in a waterless direct image Lithographic printing press; this uses none of the chemicals and water associated with the traditional printing process.
Paper: The facts
Paper has been around for almost 2000 years, and during this time it has undoubtedly established itself as the most effective and versatile means of communication, even in today's digital age. Paper is the most eco-friendly form of communication, bar none. It is fully sustainable, renewable and it can be easily recycled and reused. We only use paper from sustainable sources FSC and PEFC or recycled paper. Our printing inks are soya based and all our used plates and chemicals are taken away and recycled.
94% of the paper used in this country comes from Europe. The industry plants 3 to 4 trees for every one that is harvested and Europes' forests are growing by the equivalent of 1.5 million football pitches a year. As young trees grow they absorb CO2 from the atmosphere. A well-managed forest, which is used and replanted, absorbs more carbon than a mature forest.
Eco-friendliness
This is a worldwide debate, almost every day the paper industry is criticized unfairly. Paper can be recycled and in 2011, for example, 78.7% of paper was recycled in the UK, and this figure is increasing year on year. It is also a renewable resource, with over 4 times more trees being planted every day than those that are harvested.
